Newsletter September 2010

Greetings,

Spring Day has come and gone, and to tell the honest truth this is the coldest I’ve felt  all Winter. The Springboks finally won a game, and Peter de Villiers continues to amaze and impress us with his tact and scintillating charm.

Our guest  speakers last month were Chris Coetzer and Bernice Cowie of Browns Bay National  Bank. This turned out to be quite a surprise since we expected only Chris. We were well entertained by these two who shared some lovely New Zealand Banking experiences with us, the most amusing of which related  to tales of recently arrived South Africans walking into the bank and saying some really silly things – I think we’ve all done that at some point. What struck a chord for me was their willingness to assist those still in SA to open and manage a New Zealand bank account.

Our speaker for September is a senior police officer who will be telling us a bit about crime on the North Shore,  and will also share with us some of the lighter moments in his crimefighting career.

Hope to see lots of people at our Wednesday meeting (8 September), and remember to bring all the New Arrivals  that you’ve spoken to over the last few weeks. A snack, a glass of wine, and remember its free. Please bring children, our venue is ‘child friendly’

Cheers,

Peter & Michelle
